Ok, here I go again. Not really a rant due to the fact that I got a really great sub for a low price, shipping was fast and communication was good up to this point. Now I have left feedback (last Fri.) and e-mailed the guy (last Fri.) to let him know that feedback was left. Here is the question: How long do I wait for his feedback? I have e-mailed him twice (Fri. and today) to see if he would grant me the G-Damn same respect I did him. (not in those words though. I know better) He has left feedback for others during this time and some where after me. So, I guess this is a rant in it's own way. Not much I can do about it, I know, but this is waht I was talking about on my last post. Sorry to bring it up again, but I do feel better getting it off my chest.;)

I gave up giving feed back since no one boithered to give me any. And that was after I received a double product and returned it at my own expense.

Seems some people are not very grateful now dys.

How long do I wait for his feedback?

I usually give feedback no matter what. However, eBay sellers now wait for positive feedback before returning it. Sometimes I think it's automated. Other times, you may get none. I would not sweat it, unless you have a feedback rating of 0. :)

Who cares...? I've never even bothered to check if anyone left feedback about me. I leave it for them and I'm out of there.

I had the same issue more than once... After years I'm still waiting for feedback from a couple buyers and sellers (no, not really waiting ;) )... But I still check the feedback from the seller I'm interested to buy from.

I bought a RC airplane from Ehobbyman on ebay that was new in the box. It was damaged due to them putting some "extras" in and not getting the packing right. I tried many times to get it fixed and when he would not replace it I left negative feedback. He responded likewise saying I was unreasonable to deal with. Ebay offered to give my complaint to an arbitrator but it would cost me more money.

The fact of the matter is...

The seller should leave feedback once the item is paid for. That is all that the buyer is required to do.

People use feedback as leverage instead of a tool to show how a buyer/seller performs.

Honestly, I do not leave feedback until it is left for me when purchasing something.

I sell on Ebay stone and leave feedback to buyers as well as sellers when I buy. Some sellers only post feedback once a week, or sometimes longer interval because they sell so much. I wouldn't sweat it if I were you.

I've had difficulty with feedback on ebay. As a seller, I give feedback upon receipt of payment. I generally expect positive in return because I know what I'm selling is exactly as described and packaged well. A lot of times I'll insure it even though they don't pay for insurance. I have numerous transaction where the buyer never left feedback. As a buyer, I pay immediately and give feedback once the item arrives, if everything is ok.

I've found that I am satisfied as a person as long as I have done the right thing. I gave up on wasting my time and thoughts on the negative things. ;)

I started sending out the following message when I would not recieve feedback after paying for an item. I tend to only deal with the buy it now actions and pay within minutes of the completion of the sale. Usually the next day after I send them this I get feedback, along with an apology for not posting feedback. They should leave it as soon as my end of the bargin (paid) is completed. I don't send this out until about a week has gone by.

I am curious as to why you have not left me feedback yet. I have held up my end of the bargin. I will leave you your feedback once items are recieved. I'm not sure where ebay went from leaving feedback once payment is recieved (which in this case was minutes) to not leaving feedback until the recipient leaves you favorable feedback....

Like it or not, I've been burned once before by a buyer who never paid and had to work very hard w/Ebay to get it removed (I have a 100% feedback rating). So, because of that ... I will not leave feedback until I know the buyer is satisfied and leaves a positive feedback. It's necessary now because of bad buyers ... not bad sellers.

His feedback was simply this ... "this hurts you more than me :)" Meaning, the negative feedback he left would hurt me as a seller even though the clown never paid for the item after almost two weeks of trying to get a payment from him.

I like the ones that "did their part" by paying for the item then leaves negative feedback because the post office damaged the box. The best part is that they never contacted the seller to fix the issue. Theresa holds her feedback until the seller posts his/hers.

Bumping this thread, and copying this post from the other eBay thread since we see to be cross-purposing two different threads...

Regarding the feedback hostage thing, yes, I see Caymen's POV about stupid people and people that leave negative feedback unjustly. But, I think that's going to happen regardless, and if you really think you are going to keep that from happening by requiring buyers give feedback first, then you won't. Sure, you can then ding them back, but the negative has already been applied to the power seller account, and the counter-ding looks like retaliatory feedback which also hurts the seller. And, don't think that neg'ing a small buyer will hurt their rating and affect them in the long run. Obviously if they give unjust negative feedback, their account won't last long as most sellers won't sell to them and they will just open another account. You can't change their stripes. The good news...there aren't THAT many boneheads out there, and if one truly is a legit, good-willed power seller there aren't enough of them to put a dent in the feedback rating.

By having sellers hold feedback hostage what it is saying to the buyer is:

- You go first, but BE NICE!

- Shipping was slow...Too F'ing Bad, I have the last word!

- Packing was sloppy...Too F'ing Bad, I have the last word!

- Product wasn't exactly as expected/described...Too F'ing Bad, I have the last word!

What ends up happening with the current system in which most power sellers hold feedback is that the feedback from the buyers is really not meaningful as it is overly nice. Other's can't trust it. People HAVE to be nice. That's why I:

a. Look at ALL the neg and neutral feedback a seller gets using toolhaus.

b. Look at as much recent auction feedback as possible, noting auction end-date (especially if ending with Buy-It-Now), and then the feedback date...the time in between is typically the shipping time. I see if that is reasonable.

What I tend to find by doing the above is that there are MANY, MANY power sellers out there that are abusing the system. They are selling items they don't have, shipping items after several weeks to a month after purchase once they fill their JIT inventry, and for the most part, they are running their business on loans floated by buyers. And, the current convention of feedback hostage allows them to get away with it and keep relatively high feedback ratings because the buyers simply have to bend over and take it.

Sure, there will always be boneheads. The buyer is sending money for something that is "sight unseen", often sold "as-is", and that requires a leap of faith and quite a bit of trust. Once the payment is received and the item shipped, the buyer has done their part and seller should now trust the buyer and give them feedback. Then, the resultant feedback from the buyer, if any, will be legit and meaningful, sans the few crackpots here and there that would be crackpots regardless the orchestration.

Caymen, why not have Theresa try, for just one month, sending her feedback to buyers upon receipt of payment. See what happens. I bet it won't make a difference to her business and her feedback. And, if that proves to be the case, it is a practice that she can advertise in her auctions and that will drive MORE business (I know I would buy from more sellers knowing I have the final say).

TJR

TJR, I read that post before I posted this one. I agree totally. Not all "buyers" on E-Bay are a**holes and actually post a feedback when it's supposed to be posted. I am one of those. I still posted feedback for this guy even though he didn't for me when he should have. Most of the time I just use "buy it now" also just because of the bidding process has lost it's novelty. Just buy it now and pay by PayPal and I'm done. I also read the feedback left for sellers and know when someone left a bogus feedback. it's usually pretty obvious. This crap of waiting till the other person leaves feedback is just BS. A good E-Bay buyer also reads the feedback that the seller has left for others. If they are getting burned by people leaving neg. feedback after they left thiers (after being paid) then you need to think about buying from them alittle more. If it's only 1 or 2 here and there, then it's just a mistake. If there are a bunch of them within the last few months, then I look elsewhere. Thanks for the post TJR.;)
