EDIT: I got a script to work on MY droid,,, go to my main site and see what happens. The only thing I don't like is you cannot go to my "PC" site on a smart phone now or an Ipad, unless you are using a desktop browser (dolphin or mercury). But I have the main info stuff from the main website on my mobile page so if they want more,,, Any suggestions. Should I try to add more to my moble site from my main site?..

Can you guys test out this site on your smart phones and tell me if it lines up ok? It does on my Droid Razr. Thanks

Next step is to figure out how to autodetect between PC and phones/tablets...

Hey LaRue,

It looks good on my Galaxy S3 with Android 4.2. I looked at it in PC mode and also tried the "Mobile Friendly" link, and they both looked great. The PC version looked best in Landscape mode but I did have to scroll down to see the bottom of the page. The Portrait version was a bit small but the pinch-to-zoom function worked fine to make the text a bit larger and more readable.

I'll check it out on my Nexus-7 Android Tablet later and let you know how it looks on there.

Aloha, it looks great on mine.(3GS)

Looks good on my iphone 5.

One quick note/question--most sites which have a mobile site, are somehow able to detect if you're visiting from a smart phone, and then automatically reroute you to their mobile site. I don't know anything about how it's done--but if you do, might you want to do it up so that when a smartphone goes to www.carolinalockandkey.com, it automatically reroutes to your mobile site?

Bill,,, Thanks.... and that's what I want,, but the java script I tried won't work and I don't know enough about programming to try anything else. But trying to get the auto detect is still at the top of my to do list.

LaRue,

Your new script does not work on my Galaxy S3 Android 4.2 smartphone. All I see is a small blue dot on my screen. When I zoom in on the dot it is actually a block with "?" (question marks) on it? I think the scrip rerouting to the mobile is not compatible with Android phones?

Java is not the native language of Android. Android devices use the "Dalvik Virtual Machine", while Apple and most other devices use the "Java Virtual Machine". Some Devices have a Java to Dalvik translator built in, but most do not.

You may need to find a script that can determine if the mobile device is running the Android "Dalvik Virtual Machine" and run and Android compatible script.

Until then, I would go back to the original version since nearly everyone could see the website very well.....With the new script, I suspect that a lot of Android users cannot see anything except a tiny blue dot (block)

LaRue,

Yep, back to the original version, and it looks good. I can see and read both the PC and Mobile versions... On my phone they are much better viewed when rotated in landscape mode. In portrait mode, the appear a bit too small for my eyes to read, but I can either pinch-to-zoom, or just flip my phone sideways and the text is larger and easy to read...even without my reading glasses...LOL

BTW: I have had 7 surgeries on my eyes and no longer need to wear glasses to drive, but I do need glasses for reading...but mostly for small print. So keep that in mind when you read my evaluations...LOL

LaRue,

I checked out your website on my Nexus-7 tablet (Android) and in regular PC mode, it is clipping off one or two characters on the right edge...you can scroll right to see them, but it might be good if you could pull in the size of the frame just bit so scrolling is not necessary. This might be something that is device sensitive since the same website view fits fine on my Galaxy S3 phone?

LaRue,

Sorry I did not get back to you sooner, I had to go to Dallas today, and I just got back.

It's the main PC site which has the wider page format. It has just a sliver of the right edge of the page clipped off. and requires you to scroll to the right to see the last 1 or 2 characters on the right edge of the screen. The screen is clipped off just at the right edge of the image of the cellphone (Mobile app) icon. This is on both the portrait and landscape screen views, but only on my Nexus-7 tablet...It looks perfect on my Galaxy smartphone.

I suspect that moving the right side text over to the left just 2 characters is all it needs. Again, this may be something that is hardware specific and may only apply to a few Android tablets?

Richard, I changed the page size a little, it was doing the same thing on Rose's mini ipad. Now it seems to be ok. Let me know..............

LaRue,

OK, that fix makes all the text on the right side visible without scrolling to the right.

Depending on how picky you want to be, I think the problem is that the Facebook and Like logo at the bottom left of the screen are just a tad too far left. That makes the Menu Bar that goes across the screen shift slightly to the right and that's why it's not quite fitting on the screen and pushes off the right side. If you can move the Facebook and Like logos a little more to the right so they are not further left than the menu bar, I think that will make it fit perfectly. You might also need to move the phone image on the left side a bit to the right too.

But it does look good and is now all the text is visible, only the far right sliver of the menu bar is off the screen... I know, I'm picky little thinks like that, but that is just my nature  It looked perfect until I noticed that the screen can still scroll left an right just a hair when it should not need to, I was happy. When I saw that slight shift, it bugs me..

Ok, tweaked it a little more... NO MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You know me, I'll keeping making changes, making changes, making changes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

LaRue,

OK, no more changes....just go back to the previous version before you moved "FaceBook" and "Like" logos. They looked better where they were and now the "Like" logo button is gone?

I think the problem is not with your website as much as it is a problem with the Google Chrome browser on my Nexus-7. Since the Nexus tablet PC's are made by Asus for Google, they have the Chrome Browser....I think there may be a minor glitch in the Android version of Chrome that is causing the problem.

The page looks perfect on the Windows version of the Chrome browser on my desktop PC, and it looks fine on my Galaxy cellphone which uses an un-named browser from Samsung or T-Mobile? So I think the problem is unique to the Android version of Chrome, or how it may function on some smaller screen tablet PC's? I may see about downloading Chrome onto my Cellphone and see if I can confirm if it is a Chrome problem or Tablet PC problem?

What browser is Rose using on her mini-iPad?
