I predict that Obama will take an early lead in today's election.

Until the Republicans get off work.

Got that on a email as a quote from Tim Tebow.

I think it has a subliminal message somewhere. Wish I could figure it out.

God B:love:less America

Unfortunately our great electoral process will have Obama win. I'm a Republican stuck in a Democratic state, will my vote count...no.

plus the decision on whom wins the presidency shouldn't rely Ohio.

TWICE !

So its up from 47 percent to 51 now??

Eddie the people who voted the President in arent people you know. You probably watch 1 channel and listen to whatever media tells you what you want to hear. Mind you that its not reality. But it makes you feel safe.

America REJECTED the Republican platform. and is moving FORWARD. dont get left behing my friend. Yeah your America is not who voted for Obama. But the majority did, and you have nothing in common with them it seems.

Entitlement didn't elect Obama. Romney lost the election because he was anti-women, anti-gay, on issues that essentially wouldn't change even if Romney were elected. Stupid CCs.

Sadly there are probably a number of voters that only voted for Obama because of his skin color. I want to say first off that I am not racist, I grew up in the innercity and have friends of many skin colors. But if Romney would've won and had 93% of the white vote, racism would be an issue. But somehow gettting 93% of the African American vote for Obama is A-ok. On that same note, I was flipping the channels after one of the debates and caught Totally Biased who the host was polling people after the debate. When asked who he was voting for, a middle aged white male said, "Of course I'm voting for Obama, I'm not racist".

Again, not racist at all, but I think race played a role in both of his elections and a number of voters didn't pay any attention to policies at all.:soap:

Andy, yes, correct. Obama got all the same votes this time around that he got last time around largely because of his skin color. Minorities will want a minority to represent them...BOF (birds of a feather).

There are far, far more people that voted FOR Obama primarily due to the color of his skin than voted AGAINST him for the same reason.

Voting FOR him because he is black is racist.

Andy, race definitely played a role--but there is no real way of determining which is greater: the number of people who voted for Obama because he's black, and the number of people who voted for Romney because Obama's black. My gut says that those two numbers are likely pretty similar, and that your statement that the race issue worked strongly in Obama's favor is quite wrong.

Just like four years ago, when there was no way of knowing how many people voted for McCain/Palin because Palin is a woman, and how many voted for Obama/Biden because Palin is a woman.

We won't know specifically how many voted either way. I know a few people, at least on the 08 election that voted for Obama because they feared McCain would die in office because he was old, but I know his mom was still alive when he ran, can't remember about his dad. But Obama's parents died relatively young, so to me, McCain's personal life (POW) and his lineage suggested that wouldn't happen. A lot of them were worried because Palin would take over than, but IMO Palin had more experience being a governor than Obama did as a Senator who voted "Present" primarily instead of yes or no.

Bill V,

Exit polls showed that Obama won the Hispanic vote by a 71 percent to 27 percent margin, and the black vote by 93 percent. Romney, on the other hand got 59 percent of the white votes.

I'm sorry, but I really don't think that disparity in margins is attributed mostly due to "the issues."

I really, truly believe that minorities by and large would rather vote for a minority (someone more like them) than a white guy that's not like them. Seems white voters aren't as biased (41% had no problem voting for Obama).

So, given the numbers, I really do believe that there were more minority voters that voted for Obama because of race, then white voters that voted against him for the same reason.

Can I prove it? No.

But it's a darn safe bet, IMHO.

TJR

TJR, I disagree.

If you go stricty by the numbers in your post...

--It could be argued that 59% of people of all races would have voted for Romney if both candidates had been the same race and the contest was strictly about issues, but the fact that Obama is black swayed 30% of Hispanics and 52% of blacks to vote for Obama instead.

--Or--It could be argued that 93% of people of all races would have voted for Obama if both candidates had been the same race and the contest was strictly about issues, but the fact that Obama's black caused 52% of white voters and 22% of Hispanics to vote for Romney instead.

Both those arguments are utterly ridiculous--yet the first one isn't too far off from what many conservatives seem to be claiming since Tuesday.

The truth, as is often the case, lies somewhere in between. And I think it's closer to the middle of those two options than you realize.

The fact that 41% of white people voted for Obama is not at all a sign that fewer white people were biased against Obama than blacks were biased for him. Like I said, that number supports my second argument above just as much as it supports yours--when in fact, without further info, that number is irrelevant.
