Haven't heard that, nor has anyone here posted with a 302 V8 swap, which is entirely possible since the 96-01 Explorers had a V8 option.

I am going to swap my 4.0 out with a 7.3L diesel engine.

I will be swapping the ST frame and body out with an older F350 at the same time though.

Please keep us up-to-date on how this engine-swap goes. I am interested to hear about it. With a few performance mods (exhaust/intake/chip/turbo), a diesel-powered trac has the potential to be not only wicked FAST, but strong enough to pull down a house. My brother had his F250 outfitted with damn near everything Banks sold for his diesel and that sucker would flat out FLY. Taking 2000-3000 pounds of weight off of that truck would have truly made it a beast.

Not to mention that a diesel engine is incredibly efficient, so you could get better mileage AND more power (what we're all searching for in the end anyway).

I'd REALLY like to see some pics, I suspect that you will have to use up every spare millimeter of room inside the engine bay. However, the reliability of a diesel engine would probably worth your trouble if you get it all up and running correctly.

Oh yeah, you could also run BIO DIESEL!! A buck a gallon sounds MIGHTY NICE to me!!

Well, with that charger he's got under the hood, a lot of things fly by him.

Ah, ok, I guess I should read the posts a bit better before I post.

Good Luck with the new F350. hehe

As for flying by things, I haven't found anything I CAN'T fly around yet. ;)

Sorry baron_iv

But I am still LOL

PS - BioDiesel is one of the reasons for going to an F350

I also want a truck I can pay off in a year, hence older model, and the towing capacity of a Sherman tank.... :D
