Hello board, I have been having a problem with my " 02 " F150 w/4.6 v8.
My engine runs fine while driving down the road.
But, as soon as I slow down and stop, my engine starts running rough and dies,
unless I keep my foot on the gas pedal and keep the rpms up.
My check engine light came on during this time.
I do not have a new style code reader, so I took my truck by Auto Zone & had
them read my fault codes ( P0171 ) & ( P0174 ) they told me that my two front
oxygen sensors had gone bad, so I replaced them from (A.Z.) & reset my computer.
Well, after 3 days still same problem and check engine light still on.
I took it back by A.Z. to have them re-read my fault codes, this time codes
( P1151 ) & ( P1153 ) came up, they (A.Z.) then told me that the rear two
oxygen sensors have also gone bad, I reluctantly purchased these also.
I then installed them, reset computer, and still, engine running rough & dying
when I stop, & check engine light still on.
I have taken the ( 4 ) new A.Z. oxygen sensors back out of my truck,& I am
going to take then back to A.Z. tommorrow. I should have known better than
to trust a non certified person to diagnose my truck.
Please, if any one has had this type of a problem, please give my some ideas
of what to check.
Oh yea, right before my truck started with this problem, I chaged my coils
out with new ones from NAPA and installed a new air filter.
I changed all of my coils out due to 4 of the 8 were not properly firing.
Thank you for reviewing my problem. And keep posting these great forums &
projects.
Thanks,
JAB
