i've tried doing searches on this topic, but i couldnt quite find what i was looking for. what i was looking for, was if i got a factory sub and amp from another sport trac, could i put it in my 03 xls with just the very basic factory stereo. i know that i've been told to look for certain things on the back of the radio, but i guess what i'm wondering, is if it's even worth my time. i'm looking to get some bass, and looking for something pretty cheap. i know the factory sub wont give much, but it's better than what i have, and i can get one at a salvage yard. so, just let me know if it's possible and if it's even worth my time. thanks ya'll.

I would suggest looking at the back of the radio. I had the stock radio on my 01, and although the jack was there for the connector to the factory sub, there were no pins in it.

Either that, or see if the junkyard has the radio that matches that sub.

What are they charging you? Sometimes for all the effort, money, and time, it works out better to plan a proper setup.

I installed a set of Pioneer TS-6880R 4-way 6x8's when I did my stereo. For the price, they are extremely efficient, and deliver excellent quality, clarity, high's and low's.

I had tested them with the factory radio to make sure they worked properly before installing a Kenwood Excelon head unit. They improved the sound of the factory radio drastically, and had sufficient power to play very loud.

I won't say that the factory radio was perfect. The Kenwood head unit smoked the factory radio, and really brought out the quality of sound. It was incredible, and I had to practically abandon my mp3 collection since the quality of the recordings did not do the system justice. Surprisingly, I'm tempted to add a small sub and amp, but don't need to. Everytime I look at getting one, I just don't.

I installed a bazooka 8 inch under the back seat on the right side & I am very pleased with it. I got the model that is amplified. Installation took about 2-3 hours and combined with the factory radio it really sounds great. Good luck
