Fan Control

I have been having trouble with the fan control for the past few days. The fan dosent work at all most times. I drive around all day with no heat and then sometimes in the evening when I start the truck the fan works.



I'm thinking a short in the wiring somewhere. Any ideas on where to start.

If you have no fan at all, I would suspect the blower motor itself, assuming the fuses are good. If it only works on High, then the resistor would probably be bad. Very seldom see a fan switch go bad. (the one on the dash).



Since it is intermittent, I would trun it on high, and check for 12V on the motor wire. I suspect the motor itself is intermittent. My .02

Next time the fan doesn't come on look up under the passenger side of the dash and locate the fan motor and give it a "little tap", more than likely it will come on. If it does unplug the fanb connector and make sure that the plug isn't melted. If it looks ok then you more than likely need a new fan motor.
