20 years ago, at age 38, we adopted our daughter (my wife's cousin's daughter). When I was asked " will you do this", my answer was yes --- you have to give the baby a chance. I have no regert for doing this.

Great Gary S === may your joy be equal to what I have had !!!!!

Gary,

My aunt and uncle adopted a little Mexican baby boy in 1972. They had trouble having kids and adoption was a way to have a child.

I hope everything goes well for you in the present and the future.

FANTASTIC!!!!! Our adoption for Rue was finalized on Dec 11, 1986. (born Sep 24, 85) That was on my birthday! Now we kinda celebrate 2 "birth" days together. We have been a family since he was 3 days old. Our special child. (21 going on 40)

Congratulations Gary, and the look on his face says it all.

I was adopted when I was 3 days old back in 1948, and don't regret a minute of it. However, whenever possible, I do recommend "open adoption". I mention "whenever possible" because I know that it is not always possible or appropriate. I say that because in 1982 I got a phone call from an older sister that was also adopted, but by a different family, and even though I did know that I was adopted it literally rocked my world big time . Yes, there is sooooo much more to the story that it anyone here wants to hear the rest of it you can email me for contact info. Read the book "The Adoption Triangle".
