I am getting closer to making a choice of tires for my wife`s sport trac.

I was going to go with BS Alenza but the Firestone Firehawks have a better rating on Tirerack.com and they are cheaper. Any opinions?

greg, I don't know about that specific tire (Indy 500), but I did have a set of Firehawk GT's on a Berretta GTZ and they were very nice as far as traction went. The tread life was very good also. Lots of hard cornering and very little wear.;)

I have Firestone Firehawks on my wife's Saturn Ion (which I always end up driving) they are the low profile 55 series tires on 16" rims.

Wet weather traction is OK for such a wide tire, but I'm not getting very good wear on the treads. It will be 4 years old in March 2007, I only have 14K miles on it and several of the tire appear to have only about 1/2 the tread left. I am hard on tires on small front wheel drive cars. Even with frequent tire rotations, I eat up the rubber pretty fast.

It's not all front wheel cars, just the small ones. I guess I drive them like pocket-rockets and usually never get good mileage or tire wear.

I have the Firehawks on my trac, went with them because of the rating on tirerack, and have been very happy so far. I have only had them for about 4 months but my trac is a daily driver and I have had zero prob.

Nice lookin too on my white sport trac...

hope this helps
