A Jack Daniels Fishing Story

I went fishing this morning but after a short time I ran out of worms. Then I saw a cottonmouth with a frog in his mouth. Frogs are good bass bait.

Knowing the snake couldn't bite me with the frog in his mouth I grabbed him right behind the head, took the frog, and put it in my bait bucket.

Now the dilemma was how to release the snake without getting bit. So, I grabbed my bottle of Jack Daniels and poured a little whiskey in its mouth. His eyes rolled back, he went limp. I released him into the lake without incident and carried on fishing using the frog.

A little later, I felt a nudge on my foot. There was that same snake with two frogs in his mouth.

Life is good in the South.

Aint it the truth !!!

Hilarious. :bwahaha:

Life IS good in the South. I got made fun of in NY a couple weeks ago because I brought a handle of Jack with me. I guess I'm a little too redneck. Should have brought cheap dessert wines like everyone else. That would have been classier.

I've had very expensive whiskeys and scotches, one that was a 35 year old scotch even, and many top of the line cognacs (thanks to my Vietnamese best friend). Nothing compares to a few sips of room temperature Jack. I have it on my bucket list to tour the JD distillery.

By the way, I've had that JD handle since May. Still 9/10 of the bottle left. In college, it wouldn't have lasted a weekend. I guess I'm getting old. Going to do some work on it tonight at the lake. :haveabeer:

how about that whiskey they found buried in the ice in the antarctic? century old scotch and nobody will ever taste it. sad.

Only time I've ever had scotch was in Quebec, at a Brossard branch of le SAQ.

Tried something everyone recommended, Johnny Walker Red.

Worst booze I've ever had. Ever.

Then I went over to the Bourbon side of things, and all was good. Charlie Sheen was right, in regards to whiskey, though I'm still a Rum & Gin kind of guy.

Maybe the archeologists had a similar scotch experience.

Hopefully this fall I'll be doing the Bourbon Trail. This June I did the Woodbine Preserve, but didn't get to do the full tour due to time. Good salesmanship, good product, and good policy in that they really didn't give 2 (expletives) about the disrespectful and crass act of asking for ID.

:back2topic:

On the snake, getting hit in the head was worth it.

"And Don't Just Buy booze, that ain't food!"

"Whaddya mean, 'booze ain't food' ??! I'd rather...than admit that!"

Did it in 2008. 7 distilleries in 2 days.

Buffalo Trace

Woodford Reserve

Four Roses

Wild Turkey

Heaven Hill

Jim Beam

Makers Mark

Wild Turkey and Jim Beam did not give samples. Heaven Hill had a really nice place that gave you a an education on Bourbon. Did not stay long at Woodford Reserve and Makers Mark. Buffalo Trace and Wild Turkey let you get a good sample of booze.

Pretty cool, Caymen. 7 distilleries in 2 days would be the weekend I wouldn't remember...

How much is a good sample, iyo? I ask as Woodford (I mistyped earlier, btw) dispensed 2 shots of their 90.4 proof stuff as I went in the door. I have some cool pix of the grounds as I was paranoid about driving the ST for a good long while after that.

Wait, since do you have to pay for food samples anywhere? IMO that defeats the purpose of a sample.

I'd rather have the fruit than just its juice.
