I have to redo a brake line on my ST, actually 2 (at the rear, where the swaybar is rubbing as you might know from a previous ranting post :))

Anyways, changing the line itself seems really easy... However Ive never bled brake lines before. Can someone give me a list of tools I need, and a proceedure for doing this to all brake lines? Id like to flush it out if thats possible, and put in new fluid.

Thanks again people, I love you all!

Start with the wheel furthest from the mastercylinder, i.e. Right rear. Than go to each wheel closer, i.e. Left rear, right front, than left front.

Make it easy on yourself, get some speedbleeders.

As tom said speed bleeders are great to do it your self..

Just to add... YOU slowly pump the pedal and have some one hold pressure on the pedal, THEN you open the bleeder, watch your face.

THEM you MUST CLOSE the bleeder FIRST than tell the person to let go of the pedal and re pump...

you do this until all the air is out.....

With the speed bleeders you dont have to do the 2nd part of your post, right Todd?

Last question, what size bleeder does the ST need?

Also, they stay on after you're done?

I forget the thread pitch, but just ask for them and they will know what thread bitch you need.

There is no need to tighted the screws up when pumping the brakes with Speedbleeders.

You do leave them in when finished. All you do is tighten the screws up when the job is complete.

Any NEW unsealed container of dot 3 will work...

My father has an RV. Motorhome magazine recomends only OE Brake fluid. They say it is better than the stuff sold in parts stores.

For me, I only use OE Brake fluid.

Tom

Thanks again!

I just ordered the speed bleeders, 7 of the local shops never even heard of them here.

Should start selling the things, lol.

They're usually in the "HELP" section of parts stores. Can't really count on the clerks to know what your looking for.

Oh, yeah I should go see...

We have 2 vehicles, so I can use the ones i order on the other if i find em..

Good info, thanks again everyone.

Tom, you don't happen to have the part number do you? I've looked before and they don't come up with a part when I use the computers at work.

Alright, they had 2 sets. I bought both. One cost $12, the other was $3. Same company, same thread and pitch, different part numbers. One set has what looks like a small brass piece on the inside. Are these the one-man bleeders, where the others are just standard bleeders? I can get a pic. Also, one is 1.19" and the other is 1.25".
