For those that might have heard. There is malware and a trojan that attacks adobe reader.

I want to upgrade from v6 to 8.1 and the security patch. Will v8 overwrite v6, or should I remove v6 first. Years ago when I upgraded from v5 to v6 adobe reader, I wound up with both versions. I had to remove them both then install V6.

I never liked this about adobe reader but if you install a new version it will still keep the old one. Also, if you install the new one and then uninstall the old it sometimes removes files needed for the new one. :angry:



I would remove 6 first and then install 8.1

I also agree with George. It's best to uninstall the old version before you install the new version.



I had the full Standard Adobe Acrobat version on my PC and when I upgraded to version 7 of the reader, it kept running the version 6 reader. When I upgraded to Adobe Reader version 8 it kept using version 7 until i deleted version 7 and redirect PDF's to open with Adobe Reader version 8



I am amazed that as big and popular as PDF's and Adobe Reader is, you would think they could do a better job on their upgrade intalls.
