I'm working on getting a friends laptop set up and for some reason, when you double-click on the icons on the desktop, it doesn't open up the program, it opens the "properties" file. What can I do to get it to open the program and not bring up the properties tab? I brought up the start menu and opened the "folder options" and made sure the "double click to open an item" was checked and it is. Still just brings up the properties tab. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Look at the properties of the shortcut and make sure that it's pointing to the exe for the program.

Check the Mouse settings in Control Panel, it could be set for left-handed use where the left button is the "shortcut" button instead of the primary clicker.

:wacko:Well, had to do some work and when I got back, it was in hibernate mode and when I brought it back out, it works fine now. Thanks for the advise guys. It's appreciated.
