My ex needs new tires on her '08 Escape.

Do the TPMS sensors reset themselves. Or does it take a device.

Some stores want $$ for it others dont.

I thought I read somewhere that they reset after 20 driven miles..

My trac doesnt have them. So I dont know.

Yep, the ex still looks to me for maintenance advice..LOL

Thanks

There is a special tool and sequence to reset them. Ford dealers here have reset mine several times. After I changed tires I keep getting " Tire Monitor Fault" and "Tire Sensor Fault" but none of the half dozen dealers in this area are smart enough to solve this, they can only reset system.

The tire store that I purchased from, resets mine each time I go from summer to winter. No charge. Maybe time to find a different vendor? Bob

I had my 20's Black Chromed and had to take them all off, sat them in the garage, re installed them, re-mounted the tires, and all worked fine... Maybe you have one bad sensor?

All of mine reset themselves without a trip to the dealer.

I have stock wheels that I use in winter and Adrenalin wheels for the summer. In my case, with different sensor sets I have had to reset the sensors when I do the seasonal changeover (as I would ocassionally get the TPMS dash light to go on intermittently). After the local Ford dealer charged 1/2 hr labor to reset for me, I searched online and found a TPMS sensor tool for about $30 that has worked perfectly. Hope you can find a shop to do a reset cheap or for free if needed.
