i was down at the auto show today and I hopped inside the 09 STA and the display on the nav unit is totally different than the one that I have... the 08 GUI is plain and boring, the 09 one I seen was a way nicer display... Is that a software update that I can do to mine, or do you need an entire new headunit?

there is a nav system in the ford demo edge i am using. i noticed it was completely different from the nav that was in my 07 trac.

either way both are very good, but yes the 09 nav seems to have more bells and whistles.

Yeah, is that a new unit, or is it just updated software? I am basically just curious as I'm having a Kenwood DNX-9140 installed in May when they come out... Thoughts I could enjoy that new interface in the meantime.

why change?

imo, the ford oem you have is just fine. although the one in the 09 is nicer, i would just keep the one you have. again my opin.

Could it be the disc that is running in the '09 is a Navteq 7P? I have a 6P in my '08 and it is kinda boring as it runs from top to bottom, the new model seems to have the roadmap laid back so it appears like you're driving down the road on the screen.

The 09 Nav is a completely different unit with an internal Harddrive, ford made a PR announcement awhile ago about it being available in 10+ different ford models. It's the same one that is in the F150.

It's worked great for me so far.

I guess the Nav Systems are going to be what draws people into buying some cars.. the new display was nice, but stock decks can not compare to aftermarket, and the aftermarket decks are cheaper.
