2019 for the new ranger and 2020 for the bronco. and a diesel f150 on 2018. it would be nice if ford sacks up and offers the bronco svt i seen as the concept with the 5.8. Maybe with trump calling global warming a bluff we can get back to the monster motors and single digit mileage and fun.

Detroit Free Press article.

I seriously doubt you will see a V-8. My guess is the top of the line engine will be either the new 3.3L V-6 just announced as the base engine for the 2018 F-150 or the 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost from the Mustang although my personal preference would be the 2.7L EcoBoost twin turbo V-6.

They will probably offer either the current 3.2L I-5 or the 3.0 V-6 from the 2018 F-150 as a diesel option. They also have a Euro spec 2.7L V-6 turbo diesel in their arsenal that could find its way into the Ranger/Bronco.

Unless GM and Yota offer better engines for their mid-sizers Ford only needs to match their anemic powertrains.

hmm, 2020 might be time to trade in my 170k mile 2010 ST on a new Ranger. I say 2020 so they can get the 1st year model bugs worked out. My only hope is it will allow you to lay a 4x8 sheet of plywood down flat, don't care about length of bed.

yes i've heard of CAFE standards and i know mileage like that would never be accepted under todays standards the point i was trying to make though is if we want a huge power, thirsty vehicle we should have the option. instead of investing 10s of thousands more to make what we want because someone else said it was bad for reason A. i get some people buy cars to be fast i myself prefer trucks. sure i can buy a high 3 second to 60 car all day long but the rush of a truck that has that same performance is so much more enjoyable. we all have different things to make us tick mine just happens to be getting 5000lb+ trucks through the 1/4 as fast as the modern day sports cars. takes alot more $$$ no doubt with a lot worse economy but until another lightning or srt10 is produced thats what we have.

At this point in time, I'm whatever I have to to keep my old 2001 ST in good shape until the Ranger comes out.
