Ford Explorer 4x4

Greetings! I got this from Ford.com about Ford Explorer.

"Choose the 4x4 AUTO setting for everyday driving."



Has any of you driven Ford ST 4x4 in that mode? I have 4x2 ST SUV. I always thought that one should not drive in 4x4 mode in ordinary pavement. With thanks.

I have an '07 with 4X4 auto...it works as a 4X2 until you need it to go into 4X4 then it automatically kick in. Great for driving on snow and ice.

I find Auto very annoying. If you hit a pothole or a bump going up hill the wrong way 4x4 kicks on. Sure it turns off in 5km or something like that but I find it annoying.
