Ford ignitions

Customer replaced an ignition in a 2002 Expi and had extra parts. It wouldn't start. So he called me to fix it. So he had a gear, a metal plate, and a green plastic plate. If you put the ignition in without the extra parts, no go... Put in the gear and the green plate everything works fine... Now "I" have 1 extra part..... He's driving it but I need to know what the part is... So to make a long story short,,,, anyone have the blown up parts breakdown to an ignition switch and or ignition housing. Ford dealer here just shruggs their shoulders....:driving:
