Hey there! I have a 2004 Ford Mustang Convertible. The soft top goes down with no problems, but has trouble getting back up. I think the motor is going. Has anyone dealt with this before? How difficult is it to replace motor and is it expensive? The top leaked during Hurricane Irene and I think the water damage is a result of the motor not working as efficiently. Any suggestions?

I've doen a few of these...it's not that they are terribly difficult to do but they care a bit of a PITA. Motor comes out with the lift cylinders and after installing the new motor everything gets bled before it is reinstalled in the car. The motor runs about $300 depending on where you get it from.

The motor has a smill rubber gromet that is used to fill with transmission fluid. You may be a little low and thats why your motor is struggling.
