A Ford engineer buddy told me that 2013 Ford will be going with 1yr/10,000 mile oil change intervals across the board for their vehicles.

Kind of embarassing that the oil change places are still pushing 3,000 mile changes-- like their stuff is no good!

LOL, Some of the oil change places are using cheepo bulk oil any way....

ALSO my adren says part syn or full syn oil ONLY......

My Mercedes is comming up on it's annual Oil change in late June or early July. I put 12K to 15K per year on my car. The recommended oil change interval from MB is 12 months or 13K miles...My dealer keeps wanting to push 12 months or 10K mile oil changes...So, I once told him that I would bring my car in every 10K miles if he would let me buy and supply my own 9 quarts of Mobil-1 synthetic oil rather than pay their outrageous $8.80 a quart for the same Mobil-1 oil...he just smiled and said, "OK we will stick with MB's recommended 12 month 13K mile oil changes".

9 quarts of oil in a 3 Ltr V6 is not a typo...The engine really does come from the factory with 9 quarts of Mobil-1 synthetic oil.

I just changed the oil in my ST a couple of days ago and I have used nothing but Mobil 1 since the first oil change. Strange thing happened though with the oil change reminder on the digital readout before this last oil change. The first time it came on I pushed the reset button so I wouldn't have to see it for the rest of that particular short trip. The next time I started the vehicle the reminder was in Spanish. I reset it to English after the oil change but WTF?

And the worst part is mi no habla Espanol.

My BMW is scheduled for every year or 15,000 miles using BMWs long life synthetic oil. I use Mobil 1 0-40 as it carries the approval of BMW but I change it every 5000 miles. Out Ford Edge was scheduled for every 7500 miles but I changed it every 5000 miles, I simply refuse to let the oil go that long as I have seen the damage it can do despite what the mfgs say.

Something to keep in mind is that none of the oil change interval reminder systems look at the oil at all. The OEMs use different techniques - for example, the GM system counts engine revs, then applies penalties based on driving conditions. BMW, Mercedes and others use mileage/time. I believe the Ford system is mileage-based. Again, none of these systems look at the condition of the oil. If you really want to know what it is, then having your oil analyzed is the proven way to go.
