I've had my sport trac for about a year now and the front bracket is really starting to bother me. How do I remove it, I can't find where the screws are. And what can I do about the drill holes left in the bumper. Thanks

There are 2 plastic rivets that need to be drilled out. I never patched the holes left behind after removing mine so I'm no help there.

I used chrome Harley Davidson allen hole covers to fill my holes. I assume you could paint them black or even bumper colored so they wouldn't stand out as much. I did the same thing on my mom's Maxima and it looks much cleaner.

a buddy and my self just used some JB weld and filled in the holes from the back

when it dried it was pretty close to the bumper color

Since I put 3M film over the holes anyway, I just sprayed the holes with blue paint from behind.

Removal is easy. Just tug on it and the rivets will pop off, leaving two clean holes. I accidentally removed mine by bumping into a post -- no damge, except the bracket falling off. :)

or you could wait for someone to pull out in front of you...that's how I got mine off.

I don't recommend that technique though. :)

I just lost mine this evening, playing around in the snow on the way home from dinner. Spun the ST... A 4 foot snowbank will remove it for you, no problem!

I took mine off the day I brought it home from the dealer. Just tugged on it Like Nelson suggested. Came right off and all I have left is two holes.

Thanks, I thought there would be more to the bracket. It'll be off by tonight. Fresh coat of snow here in NE PA maybe I can find a snowbank... j/k

Plastic rivets spun when I tried drilling them out. Pryed out using a Stanley "Wonder Bar" with a plate against the bumber to avoid marring.

Drilled until it went through the thin sheet metal with a 1/4" bit. Replaced with a lower profile frame using stainless bolts, locknuts, and large O.D. fender washers.

Much more streamlined, especially after I added the Billet Grilles.

P.S.- My fear was having my personalized plates stolen. Can't access the locknuts unless the hood is opened. (Unless the bottom guard is broken)
