What are you guys getting as far as gas mileage from your 2007-2008 V6 2wd Tracs?

I'm in the market, but my wife's main concern is gas mileage, she drives an 04 Expedition

2wd 5.4

and doesn't want another gas guzzler car in the family.

I joked that we could get her a gas mizer car...Not funny!

My point is ...it's a Sport Trac:) I heard Clark Howard say that gas prices will go down

to 2.59 per gallon in the next two years? anyone else hear this? Any info will help.

Thanks, you guys are the best!

Bud

I'm averaging 14.5 in an '08 V6 4x4 but it's not broken in yet either. Highway I get over 19. This is my third 4.0 SOHC vehicle and in my experience it's a tight engine when new and needs about 10k to break in and loosen up.

Two different analysts in the WSJ are predicting oil at $80 a barrel by the end of June. I hope they're right that it's a bubble, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm getting just over 21 mpg with my 07 2wd v6, has 34K on it, but I drive very easy, like grandpa does. Its a game I play to see how high I can get, no mods to the ST at all,

My '07 V6, 2WD now has a little 7,000 miles on it. Over the winter I was commuting just around the small town I live and averaged around 15 mpg. Now I am commuting across the county and have a combination of side street and interstate (about 12 miles of interstate, of which about 4 is bumper-to-bumper) driving and average around 17-18 mpg. I haven't made any long trips of more than an hour yet, but will this summer, but from what I have seen, I would expect 20-22 mpg.

If you want mileage don't buy this vehicle, I get 14 in town and never had any better than 19 on the freeway. I don't drive like a moron, freeway speeds are at 65 mph with the cruise..any idea how hard it is to go that slow on the freeway, tires are inflated to 36 psi. BTW I have a 08 v6 2wd. Now if I went by the mileage computer that is in the dash, which is a joke imo, I get almost 17 in town, I reset it once on the freeway at the start of a 120 mile nonstop trip and it said that I got 22.8 however when I pulled off the freeway and put gas in and did the math it was only 19.1 @65 mph. If you want to tow a small trailer, mine is a 5x14 with 2 quads on it, about 1600 lbs, the mileage drops like a rock, it is so bad that I use my 93 Explorer to tow with becasue the gas mileage is that much better.

I get an Avg of 16.5mpg. That is pretty much City driving and VERY LITTLE Freeway!

I use the GASBUDDY.COM Online Fuel Log that keeps track of all my purchases and starts a graph for me on what I have spent and the MPG. Its pretty handy!

If your wife wants to stay with ford. If she doesnt mind steping down in suv size. My wifes '08 escape has been averaging 19.5 mpg mixed and 26.5 mpg at 75 mph highway. We have the 3.0L V6. All this is in the first 6k miles. I expect more as the motor breaks in.

Yeah, but that won't affect the price of gas for us. They've seen what we're willing to pay, and they'll keep their profits at a max.

If you look under "Resources" in the column on the left of this site, you'll see a MPG log you can use...in case you're here more often than you are on GasBuddy.

Thanks for all your info.

I guess I should have made a clearer post.

I'm looking at an 08 trac v-6 2wd.

My wife is not giving up her Expedition.

Of course in married life, the woman usually

gets the nicer cars. We men usually get the

older cars, or the hand-me-down cars.

although I have had 2 mustang convertibles

a camaro convertible and a celica convertible (which she drove

mostly).

I'm currently driving her old 01 Galant LS

nice car, planning on giving it to our 15 yr old.

I thought the trac would be nice to have room and hauling capacity

and it's loaded with alot of nice standard equipment.

Most likely gonna stick with a Ford product.

Not fond of GM or Chrysler. Ford seems to have the better quality

of the three, Toyota or Nissan maybe an option but it's hard to

beat the Ford rebates right now.

Thanks again,

Bud

Highest I've ever had is 22.

Here's what the truck says today:

Keep in mind that mine's a little more extreme than most. I also reset it every tank and yesterday, I drove about 40 miles at or over 100 mph.

I am have been averaging right at 16 MPG in my 2007 V8. It is getting better since I had the procedure to remove the lead from my right foot.
