Sitting at 96k miles on my 2010 4x4 ST. What do you recommend I do for maintenance when I hit the big 100k? I rotate tires and change the oil/filter every 7000k miles with Mobile 1 and Motorcraft filters. On my second set of tires, front wheel bearings and brakes. Truck still looks and runs like new (well it is only 3yrs old). I did a search but only found congrats on 100k'ers and a 2005 thread for maintenance tips on a 100k Gen 1. :driving:

Transmission fluid service. Ford says not due 'til 150K but I'm not in their camp. I'm at 26K on my 08 STA and just had dealership change the trans filter and refill with AMSOIL. Wanted the whole system exchanged with my new fluid, but whoda thunk a Ford dealership wouldn't have the correct fittings for their flush machine? Had to wait for the filter too because that wasn't in stock. Job that should have taken 2 hours ended up taking 12 - they were embarrassed to the point they didn't charge me.

Vic, at least your dealer changed your fluid. My dealer wouldn't change my fluid on my '07 Limited. He said that Ford advised the dealers not to ever change it. I had 60,000 miles and had it in twice and asked them to change it and they refused. I think they were scared of it, or didn't have a decent transmission guy on staff in case something got screwed up. This was not a small country-bumpkin dealership either.

Yes, I got a partial change, but not the filter change and full flush that I asked for, which the dealership service department agreed to do. It was only after I left the truck with them that the slow-motion train wreck occurred: lack of flush machine fittings, filter not in stock, "we don't recommend putting in this fluid, could be a warranty issue, yada, yada, yada." At least got the filter changed and a partial fluid change. Transmission running great. Wish it were easier for a DIY service fill on this transmission. Anyone fitted aftermarket pan w/drain plug?

Vic- did you buy the AIMSOIL and bring it to the dealer?

I've heard some say take it to a reputable trans shop instead of dealer. If I go anywhere I always stand at the garage door and watch them because I just don't trust people working on my stuff now-a-days.

Take a look at my thread on a leak a few threads down. A couple of posters talked about adding a drain plug to the pan. I've seen it on here (I think, could have been another site for F-150s) where a 1/2 inch plug ($4 at Advance Auto) can be easily added to the existing pan. I've got 97K and some change on my 2010 Limited 4X4 V8, so we're in the same boat on maintenance. She runs like new too.

I just posted on my thread that I've got the drain plug, and a pump to refill the transmission, so I'm going to do my own drain/refill. I'll post afterwards to recount how many curse words and bloody knuckles it takes.

Correction, 67K miles on mine. Had my wife's infiniti on my mind when I said 97K. Done the tranny on it, and getting ready to do the transfer case and both diffs soon.

I got some good information on DIY transmission fluid change on the Gen II on that other thread. Some are using pumps to refill and other using long hoses that they feed up through the engine bay.
