I'll only be gone four days, but I will have time to sightsee on Sunday afternoon. I'll try to post a few photos when I get back. I'll be near the fjords on the west coast, which I hear are nice. The sun is rising around 3:30 am and setting around midnight this week, so before and after work, I may do a little sightseeing as well. :)

I hope to get out to Pulpit Rock, which overlooks the fjord.

I lived there 8 years until I moved back hear last september and bought my trac. I have been to the Prekestolen, (photo). The west coast is the best part of norway, I lived in the east. I have no desire to go back anytime soon. 4 days is just about right.

good luck.

My daughter has stories too. She joined me last week in Poland. She will live here at least the summer and perhaps through the school year as well. She will stay with friends this week, since it was too costly for me to take her with me. She lived with me in Turkey and in the Azores as well.

We have something similar in Squamish north of Vancouver, it's called the Stawamas Chief, it's not as spectacular as that, but it's high and a shear drop off the backside. When you get there try doing what that guy is doing, walk right up to the edge and look down. Your first reaction will be to jump back, your second reaction will be to crawl forward again on your belly to have another look. Have fun.

I couldn't convince any of my co-workers to hike up to the top of Pulpit Rock (a two hour hike each way), but we took a three hour cruise of the Fjords and saw it from sea level.

In case you're wondering, the sun sets (goes over the horizon), but it doesn't get dark all the way this time of year in Norway, because the sun looks like it is ready to rise to the North. The sky is a pale blue right now, instead of black, and it is after midnight. There was a more faint glow last night in Poland too.
