In regards to my message earlier written below, even though I love my truck, selling it back to them sounds like the best thing to do. I could pay the 800 for the trans to be looked at, but other web sites reveal a problem that Fords is unable to fix nor control with the transmission. The cruise control does not work, and I need new tires. I could put 1500 back into the vehicle and hope the trans does not go, or take the 12,000 they are offering-2003 with 47,000 miles on it. I only owe 8500, so at least I won't be in the hole.
If I do not seek out another sport trac, this web site was great. I enjoyed my responses from everyone and hope I can find one that is as good as you guys are. I may be owning an Explorer or Escape, so maybe I'll be back..........The most of what pisses me off is the fact I tried to extend to the 6yr warranty before my 3yr/100,000mi warranty was up by seeing an agent at the dealership. Everything was goog until Ford ESP sent me back my money, stating they would not. I don't know if I trust Fords now...
I went into the Ford dealership to get my oil changed and mentioned that my o/d light was flashing, but it was not anymore. The service guy told me to get rid of my truck as quick as possible, before the light comes back on. He mentioned something drilling a hole in the box and the pressure would be escaping and soon the trans will go. I'm not car savy, so I had no clue what he was talking about. He had nothing to do with sales, so he wasn't trying to make me buy a new car, just save 3000 dollars in the long run. He said that this problem is now becoming common.
Funny thing-I went to extend my warranty a year ago from 3yr/100000mi to 6yr/100000mi, Ford ESP sent me back my 350 dollars and would not let me buy the extended warranty.....hmmmmm, were they anticipating this.
Has anyone heard of the transmission going out this early-46000 miles.
