I go through the network set-up and it finds my network through the wireless router, and then askes for WEP key. When I go through my computer to capture the WEP key it show it encripted; then when I click on the WEP key box it disappears. How can I capture the WEP key that is assigned by DHCP? Thanks

Rodger,

The WEP key is assigned by the router. It may be a readable word or letters and numbers in HEX format. You need to get into your routers settings through a web browser (sometimes http://192.168.1.1) and go to your wireless security and get this information.

Then this has to be entered on the printer. Does this make sense to you?

double what George said. its a alphanumeric field that is visible that is then encrypted on the following line, but what you need is the alphanumeric field.

When I set mine up, I printed some labels with the WEP key on 'em, and then I stuck one to each of the computers.

Rodger there is a way to have it read uncrypted. You have to go to the settings in security.

wish I was more saavey about it but I just recently had to do my own wireless set up and had to get that WEP code etc... give a call to your isp provider they should be able to assist you. :)

I ended up eventually not needing the labels. After setting the same WEP key on all my family's computers, and setting the routers at my place, my shop, my dad's house, his office, his lake house, and his condo, I've got it memorized now.
