On Monday Yahoo bought out Pixoria which makes Konfabulator. Now Yahoo is offering it free of charge. It's pretty cool. Go to widgets.yahoo.com and download the program. Then go to widgetgallery.com to download individual widgets. There's over 600 widgets to choose from. Some great utilities for computers to be had. You can even make your own widget but I haven't tried it yet.

It's a widget not a wdiget! Widgets fetch specific information and display it on a computer desktop in a visually cool way. I currently have three running on my desktop. A local weather radar widget, a cpu memory and drive info widget, and another widget that tells me what song is playing on a local radio station.

Is this for Windows based OS's? I know Mac Tiger (and maybe earlier versions) has widgets. I've also seen a few programs that transform your desktop and include widgets, but they made my system unstable and I uninstalled them, either that or I had to download a lot of other resource programs jsut to get the few widgets I wanted to work...

If I didn't need a PC for VLS, I would have a Mac in an instant. The Tiger OS is amazing, including the widgets.

No, I'm not starting a Mac vs. PC thread, I am only saying that I wish MS would release something like the widgets on Tiger. :)

For Windows XP or Macs. Mac got their widget idea from Konfabulator.

I know what you mean Adam, the new 20" iMac G5 all-in-one looks to be nice...or a 64 bit G5 PowerMac. I'll probably get one in a year or so to use for picture and video editing, take some of the strain off this computer.

Tom,

How stable is it? Do many of the widgets require extra downloads to run? I know with what I was using before, I had to download sysmon (system monitor) in order to monitor my CPU and RAM usage, and that sysmon crap was a resource hog...
