Group A body mount bushings estimate

Greetings to you all,
I recently asked a mechanic for an estimate for replacing the Group A body mount bushings and he came back with a rough estimate of 650.00$ He told me the installation instructions stated all the body mount bushings had to be loosened in order to replace the A bushings and that possibly the seats might have to be removed. This guy has done alot of great work on my truck, 2004, so I feel he's trustworthy. I'm just shocked at the cost. Do any of you all have an opinion you'd like to weigh in on? Thanks!

Depends a LOT on corrosion. If the body mount bolts and hardware are free of rust it's a DIY job for most with the proper tools. I've replaced mine twice by myself in under four hours, but only changed the "B" and "C" orange foam mounts. Reason I had to do it twice was the first time I used OEM foam replacements that disintegrated after only four years. I used OEM because I got a "deal" on them. Loosened all four bolts on the side I was replacing while leaving the opposite side tight to prevent the cab from shifting when it was lifted to R&R the upper mounts. $650 sounds quite reasonable considering auto shop repair rates are usually between $125-$200 per hour depending on where you live.

Thanks for your reply. This is a South Carolina truck so no rust at all. It has been pampered its entire life which is a blessing. Like you, I had the B and C groups replaced for 500.00 by a different mechanic but he died suddenly and unexpectedly in 2021. I'll drive it until the squeaking gets too bad to ignore, lol.

Yes, I bought Prothane bushings and like the firmness and the nice lift they gave the Trac. I'll be taking it to my mechanic next week to do the A group. He texted me earlier and said he sent me the quote for the wrong group so the cost will come down.

When i replaced all of mine earlier this year, the hardware was so corroded and seized, i had to buy all 8 bushings just to get the hardware to install the prothane poly bushings. I took and recorded many measurements on each, so if these fail, i will machine some out of aluminum and block urethane.
