I'm pickin' up bad vibrations, mmmm bop bop....

Sorry.

Anyways, I have a vibration, and at low speeds I can hear a tire "thumping". I'm pretty sure it's the left rear, as I can seeing it doing a little kooky dance in the mirror. It looks like it's wobbling while it's spinning. I put it on jacks and wiggled the wheel and tire around to make sure there wasn't any play in the axle and bearing, as well as remove and reinstall the wheel on the hub just in case it didn't seat right. The only thing I can think of at this point is that I need to get it re-balanced. But it's the only wheel that seems to do it. The right rear shows no signs of wabbling in the mirror. If I have time tonight I'll rotate the tires. Either way, it's driving me crazy!!! (That and my annoying low speed brake squeal)

Problem #1;

Rotate tires front to back. If it still wobbles on rear, possible bent axle.

Problem #2;

...On all moving points such as sliders and caliper bolts, and a little on the backing

plates of the disc pads, being careful not to get any on the surface of the

pads or rotors!

Bent axle's what I'm afraid of. Especially as much as I've bottomed out on these crappy Illinois roads. Prob 2, I'll check that out. I'm kinda thinking it's the rear drums which badly need changed. Maybe I'll schedule into a brake shop this weekend.

larry,

Cayment may know more, but I think you'd see fluid from a distorted seal if the axle was bent enough to actually see a wobble. Just a thought - I think I'd get the tires examined first for internal separation. You may be seeing an out of round tire instead of an actual wobble.

good luck or go by finance and steal MJs

grump

I had a tire do that and it was broken belt inside the tire. After a while, it started to show a noticeable bulge as air pressure delaminated the tread in that area. Started as a noise, then a mild vibration and finally a very pronounced thump, thump, thump..........

If you can jack it up and spin the tire, while mesuring it to see if the tire, wheel is bent._Ron
