Well My Fellow MYST'er

After just over 71,000 miles I finally had to replace the front brakes....Cant believe I got that much out of these factory installed set. I am soooo happy about that. and the rears still have a lot left. Another reason I love my Sport Trac so much! :driving:

Something tells me that us Gen2 owners, with the ABS, traction control and other brake-related functions aren't going to celebrate that kind of longevity. Paint me envious! ;)

Replaced front pads and discs on both of our 2007 vehicles this past couple of weeks. The Pacifica had almost 40k miles, the Focus 48k. Was overdue on both.

Not too bad. Have had worse...our old Voyager mini-van had brake pads every 25k miles.

07 4x4 V8 Trac here, Have towed some stuff over the mountains, have about 62k on the truck, and checked the brakes 2 weeks ago. All is still well and lots of life left in them. I thought about replacing them anyways, but then decided if it isn't broke, don't fix it..

My wife's Chrysler 300M Special had 8k on the odometer when we had to replace the brakes on it. They were of the type that would turn the wheels black in about 3 miles. I suppose those soft pads made for pretty good stopping power on paper for it. Replaced them with Cryo treated/slotted/drilled rotors and excellent quality ceramic pads, and now it is approaching 60k and no issues with it either, and she says the brakes perform better than the soft sticky ones that were on there new...

I had to change the pads on the front at about 60k, and every 40-60k since. Only paid for the first set. Thanks, AutoZone!

Still can't hope to touch the freakish life I got out of my 1999 GMC. Changed the front pads at 225k for the first time! They still had more life left, but I just couldn't leave them in there one more time! The new AutoZone pads only lasted about 50k before they needed replacement. GM wanted $195.00 for factory replacement pads!

Just hit 125K on my 03 and finally having to do the rears, and wouldnt u know it while I wasnt looking the right rear pad has chewed a real nice groove in the rotor so Ill just do them too. Question how are supposed to know if we have a plastic or steel piston on the caliper?

You can see the niiice rotor in my library.

Also anyone in the Knoxville, TN area wanna help me? I am just moved back from FL and no longer have a garage ;-(

Sorry, but moved back to Texas from Caryville. I have to admit I miss the weather and the 40x80 barn we had there!
