I'm going to replace the OEM single disk head unit of an 09 STA with aftermarket but want to have it integrated with as much of the factory hookups and services as possible. Ie: Steering wheel controls, Sync, Sirius, internal console ports, etc. Looking at the Pioneer AVIC F900BT - anyone have experience with how it integrates?

I'm new to the audio upgrade scene for this model so if this has been asked before I apologize. My main concern is losing functionality of OEM installed / available functions. Hopefully a solid A to Z solution is available rather than piecing and parting and hoping for something to work.

Thanks in advance for any advice and I look forward to any info, tips, or links you may have.

I think Metra makes a wiring harness that will allow you to use your factory steering controls. They've been developing one for Sync. I'm not sure if it's on the market or not. Depending on the HU you pick, you will need to opt for the add ons that give you Sat radio. Metra also makes installation kits that give a factory like smooth install and finished look.

I would recommend visiting an aftermarket Audio retailer/installer in your area for some advice. What your looking to do won't be cheap when it's all said and done imo.

I just put a Pioneer AVIC Z3 in my ST check crutchfield.com as for the wiring and the Pac for the steering wheel controls.

P.S.

I love my Z3.....

Does that AVIC Z3 have RCA inputs? I'll need em for the add on to use the sync features. I was looking at the AVIC F90BT as it has a higher signal out (4v vs 2v) for preamp. How's the Z3 stack up? I hear a lot of the drawbacks are from the slow start up times (30-45 secs)

Its hard getting a feel for head units from spec sheets. Personal experience is a much better reference.

Thanks!

Yes, I am 99% sure it does I used metra harness I do not have the sync so I do not know if it will work or not. As for load times I do not have a problem with the load time when I start my st I let it warm up a little then you are ready to go and I like the bigger screen on the z.
