Why this route and not 95? scenic? traffic? tolls? I drive to Cape Cod from Maryland 2-3 a year to see my family. I was going to go home for Turkey Day but decided not to deal with the traffic this year.

I also live in Maryland and while I-95 is decent from MD to points north (aside from the usual backups and forcing use of the DC beltway and likely the Baltimore Beltway), it is horrible in Virginia and all points south.

Never have I experienced such horrid road engineering as I have on I-95/I-64 in VA...makes PA look like a paved paradise in comparison:grin::banghead:

I like I-81. It's cheaper, much more scenic and doesn't strike me as being much too small for the amount of traffic it carries.

But my complaints about I-95 in VA, a road that I travel WAY too much, aside, I'm also curious as to why you chose this particular route.

agree I-81 & I-77 are much better even if it may be out of the way.

but since it is the most traveled weekend of the year, it may be painful.

good luck

It's called TOLLS... It was 45$ plus last Christmas.. This year 3.50$..... A little more miles but

well worth the extrat time.

I travel between VT and SC several times a year and avoid I95 at all costs. Its crowded, expensive, and for the most part ugly. I81 is much better although its starting to get crowded. It certainly looks different than 20 years ago when I started driving back and forth.

When I have time I take 220 or 219. Very scenic but very slow, but if its summer I'm on a motorcycle and have plenty of time.
