no.. dont yank on it u WILL break it. you have to take the whole switch assembly out, THAT you can just pull out, best to lightly pry around it. once out, disconnect the two harnesses and take it in the house. lol... you have to turn the switch to parking light position, and pull out as to activate fogs, theres a small plastic clip on the bottom of the assembly you can clearly see if you do it a few times, pop it off, done.
btw, y are you trying to remove the knob??? cause its not JUST the knob, theres copper contacts attached to it for activating the fogs.. you can seriously mess stuff up if you dont know what your doing.. my .02
