I found this forum while searching the internet for a solution to my sport tracs ailment. Maybe someone here can help. I believe the heater in my 2001 went out. I was only working on high for a week, then it quit all togethor however I can still feel alittle heat coming from the defrost vents up at the windshield. I replaced the fan switch, the resistor and checked the fuses. Any ideas? Oh yea and sometimes it will just magically come on by itself after I have been driving for awhile. Weird....:banghead:

Check the blend door. Passenger floor board. Vaccum hose may have come off. Or the vaccum motor diaphram failure. The blend door may have a broken shaft connection.

When you say comes on, do you hear the fan running ??? Sounds like a bad wire some where..

for example I will leave the fan switch on high, warm air will come out of the defrost vents but not strong...as if it was on low. I will drive around and then all of a sudden the fan will kick on and be blowing on high.
