HEY TO ALL...I HAVE MY S.T. STOCK SHOCKS OFF AND HAVE THE RANCHOS TO PUT ON...BUT I CANT SEEM TO COMPRESS THEM..HELP!!

use the ground, lean on the shock pushing it to the ground...

Todd Z

didnt work todd..im beginning to think they are steering stabilizers...they dont look like the 5000 on jc whitney...im lost..

Do they match the factory shock???

Todd Z

I have always done it like Todd suggested. I have had a few that stuck open and required a bit more force. At the shop I raised one of the lifts a bit, put the shock under it, lowered the lift and then it collapsed. Once it was broke free I was able to do it by just leaning on them...

ok heres the update...i had to put all the stock shocks back on because i couldnt get any of the shocks to rebound at all...they do match the stock shocks but i just cant get them to rebound...i took the 2 back shocks first...placed a piece of cardboard on a cement surface and pressed on the shock...nothing...neither one...i repeated the process for the front 2 shocks and was able to get very little rebound on one of them...i didnt get any directions in any of the 4 boxes but did get all the parts,, i think its a very slim chance that i get 4 faulty products so i just dont understand...

is it bad for the shock if i extended it all the way out before it is compressed???

#'s are 5229 and 5185 i believe..

please help!!

they didnt come compressed at all and there was no strap...they were shipped in the "all the way down" position..(i must sound like a retard)..todays a new day so im going to try to just start over new with them..before i take my st apart..

Some shocks have a lock where you compress them all the way down then turn and it locks together.

I drew up a really crappy picture to help you understand what I am saying.

I am willing to bet that is what the problem is.

thanks for all the help everyone...but still nothing...i tried everything, tom i turned the ccw.nothing,,,i extended the shock all the way,,no rebound,,when teh shock was all the way in i gave it a good push against the ground,,nothing

what does everyone think i should do?

thanks again...i appreciate everyones help...

Which model Rancho's did you get ?? I may be mistaken, but I think there is one model of the rancho that is not gas charged...They are not self extending...I think it is the RS5000...I could be wrong...
