Hello,

I noticed Monday when I need to stop in a hurry that it took me a lot longer to get stopped then usually. So all week I have been closely monitoring my brakes and came to the realization that these braked needed to be replaced 2 months ago, lol. I am going to get EBC dimpled and slotted rotors for the front and EBC 6000 series greenstuff pad for the rear. My question is should I put dimpled and slotted rotors on the rear or just get oem replacements? and should I use EBC greenstuff 7000 series pads on the front or the EBC Yellowstuff pads?

I mainly use my ST for daily driving, but I do pull a 6 x 10 utility trailer with 2 atvs on it. Does anyone here use the EBC pads? Recommendations Greenstuff 7000 (low dust) or Yellowstuff (better for trailer pulling)? :banghead:

Thanks

I installed crossed drilled rotors on my '03 ST and they didn't even last a year, I went back to oem parts and they work for me. JMO.

Stock rotors and Akebono pads. Don't buy into the hype of dimpled, slotted, drilled and whatever other kind of rotors are are out there. If you had a car that you raced then it would be a different story but just because something is better on the racetrack does not mean that it will work for street use.

I got my rotors from Brake Performance over a year ago. No problems, I use Wagner Thermoquiet ceramic pads, minimal dust, quiet stopping and plenty of grip. I have to agree with l1tech, I put them on for the looks really. Stopping distances were maybe improved a little bit. BC

I agree completely with l1tech and Bob C.

You do not need racing components on your street driven Sport Trac to get better stopping power. OEM rotors and calipers are adequate if coupled with a quality brake pad.

Also, the amount of dust emitted by the brakes should never be used as a criteria for selecting brakes. Dirty wheels is an insignificant issue when compared to good stopping power. Fortunately, there are some good brake pads on the market that provide excellent braking and throw off far less dust but you need to try one of them to see if any brand meets your needs.

I recentlly put performance friction pads on my front stock rotors. They do throw some dust. But the hotter they get, the better they stop. I get into some spirited driving at times. They never fade.

These were on my STA when I bought it and they seem to work ok.. not sure if they are worth that kind of money though. But I haven't drove a stock V8 STA to compare it to and well...it looks good!
