I just got code scan from Autozone and the code said PO301: Cylinder no. 1 misfire detected. so i checked the wire got a new spark plug for it everything looks good but still runs rough and the check engine light is still on. any idea how to fix this. thanks

oh it's 2001 job2 2wd if that helps :) the truck has about 130000 miles and this is its first check engine light since i bought the truck back in 2000

The coil for wire Number 1 also fires cylinder #5, Check that one also...

And It could be a fuel filter issue, bad gas, dirty air filter......

Todd Z: that's what i was thinking. i'll clean the air filter first then i'll go from there

i'll let you guys know what's up

thanks

Chances are that you either have a vacum leak on the #1 cylinder or you have an injector that is going bad. Any other problem such as air filter, fuel filter and such would affect the whole motor and not only one cylinder.

l1,

We had a member with a single cylinder misfire and it was a rats nest in the air filter...

It is strange how the ST reacts to certain things that are not normal..
