I just got a factory nav unit for my sport trac off of ebay. I connected the nav and eveything seems to work (all buttons, stereo, satelite radio), except It doesn't seem to be getting a signal from the antenna--shows the GPS with a slash through it. Just wondering if anyone else hase done this install and if so where does the antenna need to be mounted. My sport trac has the heated windshield--don't know if that would cause a problem or not. Any help is appreciated.

I have heard that the heated windshield does tend to block the signal when it is activated.

I would suggest, take the antenna, ensure it is plugged in, simply open a side window and let it hang there for a bit to see if you get a signal.

If you do,,, you know the issue. If not, you have a wire, antenna, or connection issue.

But it will at least help you diagnose it a bit.

In most cases, it will get a signal from the side windows as well. I am guessing you will find an issue with the wire, the antenna or a connection issue.

Finally it works. We emailed the guy we got it from on ebay and put it exactly where he had it--under the flashing red light in the dash. We tried every place we could in the radio compartment and couldn't get it to work. I didn't think about removing the top dash piece and putting it there.

Thanks for all the help.

The guy we got it from was turning in his 2007 lease to buy a new truck and was taking off all of the things he added and selling them. It would have been a very easy install if I had known where to put that little antenna.
