help with tires on a grand cherokee

i took my 255/70/16 wheels off my trac when i upgraded to 33's. my dad's jeep is getting ready to go out the door ('97 w/180k) and he doesnt want to have to buy new tires for it. the tires he has now have seen better days and keep going flat in this cold weather for some reason. i was wondering if my tires would fit on his jeep. the current tires on the jeep are 225/70/16. are the 255's too tall???? thanks everyone

225/70-16 tires are 28.4" tall and 8.85" wide.

255/70-16 tires are 30.05" tall and 10.03" wide.



I think you concern should be wheel width vs. tire width. The wheels might not be wide enough for those wheels.

thanks Tom...i am always confused with this tire size stuff...so would you not reccommend the tires going on???
