Hey LaRue, gotta ?? Master Hitch lock

Master hitch insert lock as shown. No key # stamped on it just a little "4" cast into it. #1 Master key fits it.

My uncle just bought a truck at the sale and it had the insert locked into the hitch. A shot of Dri-slide and I had it picked and off in less than a minute. I realize these locks are not much more than $20 but I'm wondering about a key. Do you suppose the "4" indicates a particular key? Like, maybe all locks with a "4" use the same key/.....all with a "5" same key. Just wondering.

Anyone with one of these locks be willing to see what number theirs had on it?

DISCLAIMER: I DON'T KNOW for sure! :grin: BUT, it has nothing to do with actual key, I'ma thinkin it means a model number or something. It could mean the key is for a "4" pin lock. A key can be impreesioned for this, but paying as locksmith 10-20$ to make one is not cost effective. That's why I won't make a key for these type locks. I have one here I drilled the tumblers and now a blank key works. :haveabeer: I'm not much help. Damn sorry a$$ Locksmiths

LOL ! No, it's not worth taking to a locksmith.

If I could drill the tumblers in this lock I could still use a blank key. Most people would see the lock and not bother trying to steal the hitch.:supercool:

Kinda looks like this. Take a SMALL drill to the top of the keyway and drill down a little at the time. Then go a little bigger bit. Basicly you want to widen the SLOT from top to bottom. Then have a good screwdriver and vise grips. DSrill, then try to turn, then drill........ you get the drift. It may or may not work, no key now.. so what do you have to loose....
