Got home yesterday. Two hour drive, 90 mile return trip. It took us 12 hours to get 90 miles, to my folks house last thursday. Bumper to bumper. Never was able to get over 10mph, and that was maybe for 100yard spurts. Rita changed course and my Parents lost power and water, until the day we left. My dad has a 5K generator, taped to the breaker box. Not enough power for AC. Otherwise we had fans, lights and refridgeration. Everyone brought drinking water and food. We would get 5 gallon buckets of water, from the lake, to fill the toilet tanks. We did some scrounging to keep gas for the generator. It all went well and was good to be in a house with family instead of a shelter.

My house had no damage or looting. I thank God for that, and pray for those not so lucky. We are ok and glad to be home. Trying to catch up with all that was put on the back burner.

Thanks for all your prayers for our safety.....:D

Glad to hear you and the family are all back safe and the home intact. God bless. With regards to Dreman's, I just saw a tiny unit, plug in the wall type at HD. Should be enogh to keep you comfortable while trying to catch up on some ZZZZZs in the bedroom. Good Luck.

Get a small window ac unit that will run off your generator. It's better to have one cool room in 99 degree heat than no cool rooms! When I was single I only cooled the bedroom to cut down on utility bills. I only cooled the whole house when I had friends over.
