We will be taking our son back to college in colorado in 3 weeks, and i would like to go horseback/trail riding. Here is what I am looking for:

I would like somewhere we could ride side by side instead of nose to tail, maybe even a private ride just the 3 of us.

Somewhere with beautiful scenery, wildlife, mountains, lakes (I know all of Colorado is like that) Somewhere you can enjoy all the beauty that God created, that will inspire awe in a college kid that thinks they know everything. I would like to reconnect with nature and my son.

It also needs to be within an hour + - a little of Golden/Denver.

Last year was the first time I had ever been to Colorado and I have to say I was breathless the first time I saw the Continental Divide and the snow capped mountains (not becaue of the thin air but because of what i was seeing:)) I felt like I was a kid again, and so in awe at the beauty.

I know it is asking alot, but you guys seem to know so much about so many things and with all the sport tracs in Colorado I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

I have looked on the internet and there are many places to ride, but who really knows what you are going to get, first hand knowledge is always the best.

Thanks for you time

Jackie

Jackie, I don't know about anything within an hour of Denver, But the family and I just got back from Taylor lake Colorado. It was beautiful. If you don't mind adding about three hours you can do that. You would travel southwest out of Denver to a small town named Buena Vista. From there you would travel over cottonwood pass, it is paved to the top and then turns into a logging road that is a little ruff. When you hit the bottom of it you will be at Taylor lake reservoir. Then travel on down the road you will find several riding places. But no matter whick way you go,be prepared to pay alot of money for a horse ride. From 65 to 150 dollars a person. _ Ron

Jackie: You'll probably need to ask this question on sites devoted to horseback riding. You're quite limited in coverage asking that question here, and limited to 1 hour from Denver really cuts down your options.
