Being that the guy has sponsors, I would say that it is an occupational issue.



I have to think that he or his sponsors carry insurance as a form of protection for these sort of things.



Whether you or I feel it is a sport, the networks put them in pretty high regard relative to viewership. That said, it all comes down to the money...
 
I think he is pulling a Mickelson, faking an injury of something because Joey Chestnut, his nearest competitor, just down something like 59 hot dogs recently. This is about 5.5 over Kobiashi's (sp?) best.



He's feeling the heat from this side of the pond and cannot take it.

I remember watching him compete on TV against a Russian brown bear when I was in Korea. The bear cleaned his plate in about ten seconds and then started looking at Kobeyashi's plate. I figure he could have eaten all of Kobeyashi's hot dogs and Kobeyashi himself before getting full. :lol:



I agree it isn't a sport, but watching him and that bear was pretty funny. :)
