Reading Lee's post about the engine makes me wonder about how many miles I can hope for from my 2005 STA. I assume this has been posted before but how many miles does everyone have on their trucks? I have just over 137,000 with no major problems so far.

2005 4x4 xlt bought @156k now @ 180k:

New rack and pinion

new tierod ends and ball joints

new shocks

new thermostat

all maintenance items, except timing chain.

running pretty well!

170,500 on my '01, no noise. 86,935 on my '02, which occasionally has a little noise at idle after restarting when the engine is warm. Goes away as soon as the rpms get above idle speed.

I'm currently at 190,000 miles on my 04 STA. Most recent thing I had to do was replace exhaust manifold gaskets. When I got the superlift kit installed, did all new inner/ outer tie rods, body bushings, sway bar bushings, rotors/pads. Sitting on bigger wheels and tires now... the next thing will probably be regearing.

2001 4WD, 256,000 miles.

Two new rack and pinions

Two sets of ball joints and control arms

Forth set of shocks

New thermostat housing

New radiator

2010 V6 @ 165k miles:

2 sets of front wheel bearing hubs

3 thermostat housings

Several brakes changes

1 set of shocks & struts

All normal/scheduled maintenance preformed

Mobil 1 full synthetic with Motocraft filters

Running smooth (knock on wood!)

2002 263,000

2 set rotors

alternator

1 set drums

upper & lower control arms

exhaust

t-stat housing

2 windsheilds

2 sets of tensioners

full syn changes at 15,000 miles

both exterior door handles broke (front)

would still be with us if not for my son's GF totaling it

all other stuff original

ran like a champ

2003 with 372,000 miles as of this morning.

My dependable daily driver. 35 mile commute each workday each way.

Original engine and transmission.

I lose track of what I have replaced and how many times.

I do know I still have the original alternator, starter, steering rack and pump, engine, transmission, rear axle, driveshaft and u-joints(!), seats, window mechanisms, etc. I keep thinking I need to find a replacement soon, but it just keeps starting up every morning!:driving:

400000 miles.jpg

Just noticed this when I was about to leave my mom's house and head home. New milestone, and heading for 500k!

Wow: I was (am!) a little frightened by the 107,000 on the 2010 I just acquired!

Sadly its a crap shoot.... All depends how it was maintained and driven....But the 4.6 is better then the 4.0

2001 Job1 4.0 V6: 274,000

2007 Job1 4.6 V8: 214,000

Both run perfect without leaks or burning oil. The V8 was replaced at a Ford dealer @ 150,000 miles with a Ford remanufactured engine.

2007 4.6 V8. 213,000 miles
All original drivetrain.
My only complaint are the dash bulbs have gone out and the radio display is out.

Just recently purchased my 01 with 72k on it. Has 76k now. Since owning it I've replaced spark plugs, wires, 4x4 module and soon to be coil pack as I have a misfire in cylinder 5 also passenger side hub assembly I'm about to replace. All in all I love the truck. Recently just drove it down to FL from Philly drove amazing just keep it under 80mph and gas mileage will be fine.

What are people doing with transmission fluid change? I've never had a ford before and I know what I have is known for bad Trans. I've always had foreign cars that never had tranny issues and my jeep is rock solid never a issue. Do people change the trans fluid and hope for the best or leave it alone as it shifts great. I know on some cars if you change the fluid that's when the problems started. Just curious what these high mileage people are doing? Thanks.
