I was on the way home last night and noticed the gas gauge was on E, not just above E when I normally fill up. I was on the Hardy Toll Road here in Houston which has no gas stations on it, so I was sweating it until I reached my exit and finally pulled up to a station a couple of miles from the toll road. When the pump clicked off I saw it put 22.2 gallons in! How much do these tanks hold?

check your owners manual near the back there is a section titled capacities, i know that my 01 is 20.5 but they did bump it up a little later.

I know that I kept looking for that "Check Gage" light, and it never showed up. I've seen it before, so I know it does work when you get low.

Ian... The fuel pump and lines and filter and engine hold some too. On top of that, how sure are you of the pump's accuracy?

I have put way more than 22 gallons in my sport trac It all depends on the angle of the truck. I stopped at a gas station where the back of my truck was higher than the front and i was able to get about 28 gallons in it. Some one needs to make a bracket that raises the back of the tank up about three inches so we can always get that much in....

There was an article about this.. The gas pump is most likely not accurate. SO basically your paying for gas your not getting.

my 04 holds 22.5 gallons (I never over fill) once the pump clicks off that's it. This is a consistant reading every time, ususally around 21.5 IF I let it get that low.

Last time at the gas station, my '07 held $66.35.

My Toyota held $35.00 today.

Either vehicle, if I drive it all week to and from work, the tank will just last.

You can do the math. :(

35 bucks? That's about 10 gallons of gas here, and we're at 3.50...lower than the average.

In ca, that's what--7 gallons?

For a second I thought you were riding a motorcycle, until I did the math lol.

But what car fills on 10 gallons? RAV4 takes 15 or so, and the escort that I've used takes 11-13...7 to 10 gallons for a full tank...doesn't even corolla take more than that?

and i was able to get about 28 gallons in it.

If the gas pump said you pumped that many gallons, I would be suspicious about the accuracy of that pump and would consider reporting the station to your state's department of weights and measurement. I can't believe your stock tank will hold that much.

I fill my 2001 up to the top of the neck everytime, I put in 21 to 22 gallons. the most I have ever put in is 22.4 and The ST still had gas. So I think to the top is 23._Ron

Never fill up into the neck. You take the chance of liquid getting into thevapor canistor. You will saturate the charcoal, and start having problems. May even have to replace the canistor..
