Can someone tell me the secret to keeping my fairly new stainless steel exhaust tips looking "dapper"?

I know that over time, it's going to be impossible, but I'd like to prolong that as much as possible. Thanks

I gave up, took 1500 grit to it and un polished it..... now i just wash it......

Bob,

You have not really stated what the problem is...Are they getting sooty from black exhaust gases? Are they getting dull grey looking from exposure to road salt and the elements? Are they dirty and hard to clean, or are they clean but just not shinny like new?

Assuming the exhaust tips are polished stainless steel, I would think that some kind of metal polish would work? Perhaps it may take some kind of special stainless steel polish similar to the cleaners used for stainless steel appliances.

If the tips are removable and they are becoming very difficult to keep clean and shinny, you may just be better off getting some new ones? Perhaps chrome ones would stay shinny longer and be easier to clean?

Richard, I got them this past August and they seem to be losing the exterior "shinneyness" already. They are not removal tipss. I think I just contact the place where I had them installed and see what they suggest. Thanks to all!

Bob, if they arent double wall. The single wall SS tips tend to discolor with time and heat.. Almost all single wall SS tips I have had done it. They tend to get a gold tarnish color. The lower grade of SS, They may even get rust spots.

This may sound like overkill, but if you really want shiny exhaust tips, cut off the old ones and install chrome tip extensions. You can buy all kinds of tip shapes like round, oval, square, bologna cut, and even trumpet style.

These are double wall Magnaflow tips. I use a little Griots metal polish on a rag and they look brand new. Bob
