Just saw the commercial, wonder if sales dropped off that much for them or of they just saw the sales numbers of everyone else jump up. surprised.

There part of GM.

Teddy,

The only "real" Hummer is the H1. The H2 is based off the Silverado and the H3 is based off the Colorado. The other two are just GM's interpretation of a Hummer.

Tom

IIRC, the only vehicles not part of the Discount is the Corvette, GTO, and Medium Duty Trucks.

I don't know why they dont include the GTO. It isn't like they are selling any of them. I am lucky to see one GTO a week. Mustangs, on the other hand, I see a new one a few times a day.

The local Pontiac dealer has about 10 in stock. Same ones I have seen for the past few weeks.

Yknow, I hadnt thought about it but I heard so much about the new goat, but I never see them and I live in southern cal. I see everything, lotus', maz, fer, everything but no goats

The new GTO does not deserve the name "Goat". Look at it. It is one of the most boring looking cars GM has. Sure it is a powerhouse, but once again, it proves just because you stuff a ton of power under the hood it isn't going to be a wanted car. The Mustang once again proves it.

The 90's Camaro and Firebird had the Mustang beat performance-wise hands down. LT1 350 and fast!!! Had more power then the Mustang. The Mustang STILL outsold both of those cars. They are both dead while the Mustang lives on.

Give it three years and the GTO will be put back in it place. The history books.

Make it look like a GTO, like Ford did with the Mustang, then I think it would be fair to call it a "Goat", until then, don't insult the real thing.

Tom

Doesn't help that GM imported only <15,000 GTOs for '04, and about 18,000 for '05. A shame really, considering how much better they are then any other American V8 coupe.

The new GTO is so generic looking, I found myself sitting next to one at a traffic light and didn't even know it! Just thought it was another Grand Prix.

Yeah, make it look like a 1970 GTO, then you'd have a winner!

Darin, exactly my point. Reminds me of the new Nova Chevrolet came out with in the 80's. What an insult to such a great car.

Tom

Rob T,

Do you happen to have a link to any GM release that they are indeed working on a replacement Camaro?

The only article I have read is that someone drew up a Camaro concept and people are hoping it is going to happen. GM isn't saying anything.

Tom

Hope GM can do better than those two concepts! I do like the grille better on the 2nd pic... the big chrome bar has gotta go from the first one.

Truk Trac,

That is not a real concept car. That is the one some kid (or adult, don't know his age) designed. All Camaro lovers are going goo-gaa over it. It is not a GM concept.

Tom

There is still some sticky tape with actually calling the car the Camaro. GM signed a contract with the Canadian Auto Workers Union that the Camaro and Firebird would only be built in the Canadian plant (which is now demolished) until at least 2017. The new car is coming, however you might see introduced as simply the "SS" instead of the Camaro.

This vehicle will be based on GM's upcoming "Zeta" chassis being developed by Holden, GM's Australian division. Production for Zeta is likely headed for GM's Hamtramck, Michigan plant, which will soon be phasing out Cadillac Deville, Seville and Buick LeSabre.

You can find a lot more public information on the SS.

[Broken External Image]:

A 4 door "Camaro"? It is ugly. To sell that thing, they will have to stick 100,000 HP under that hood. It wont sell by looks alone.

The SSR proves it.

Tom

Bland and generic is good...keeps the boys and blue off your case. With the GTO being nothing more then a 2+2 Corvette, there is certainly good reason to not want to attract too much attention.

The new camaro got the ax, Gm is not going forward with the new rear drive platform any time in the near future. I think the new H3 look pretty good, a much better size then the H2. The H1 is the only real Hummer, but way to impracticale for the street. The problem with the H3 is it is way under powerd, an inline 5 with 220HP and something like 260TQ for a almost 6000 lb truck. Can you say 0 to 60 in 12 seconds, 1/4 mile in 18. I know its not a performance truck but please it still has to be able to get out of its own way.
