If memory serves I saw this routine and others on the Dangerfield's young comics special on HBO. Others included were relative unknowns at the time including: Tim Allen, and Jerry Seinfeld



I do believe it was early to mid 80s.



Oh, and Bob Nelson's "Jiffy Jeff's Gym" routine is hilarious too... (a much older Bob Nelson in this video, but the same classic routine):
