I know this sounds dumb, but has anybody changed the coolant on an '07+ 4.6? I am trying to and don't seem to be able to get it all out of the block and heater. I have climate control and can't even get the heater to put out hot air. If there are any tricks to tips regarding this engine they would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Costs a few bucks, but go to a decent fast lube shop for a coolant change. They'll have a machine that will replace all of it. Plus, they take care of the disposal properly (it gets recycled). Some things you can DIY - this is one I have someone else do.

Thanks Vic, but I think I'm too far into it at this point. I guess I'll just keep filling with fresh water and running and then drain until it gets clear and non slick.

After flushing, this may be the only Ford approved aftermarket coolant that meets their spec. Check NAPA.

I used to run mine with the petcocks open, heater on and garden hose in the radiator. It would all come out eventually then.

I dont wait 50k or 5yrs. IMO, any brand that say's compatible, is good for 3yrs. Except the orange for GM.

Just my take on it. I have never had coolant problems, with any thats compatible. No nasty look when drained. No loss of motor radiator or corrosion problems.

IMO, Vehicle manufactors have us scared, to use anything accept what they sell. At this point I have no reason not to trust compatible fluids of name brands. For the last 15yrs.
