I made the mistake of buying a tan high series console from an 1998 Explorer. After starting the swap out project I ran into it not fitting. Doing a search I found a couple of months ago someone posted not to buy it..lol Unfortunately I bought mine before that post and just now got around to swaping it out. It appears the duct and maybe the bracket are different. Can I just buy the sport trac duct and bracket by itself from Ford? If not, does someone have a busted up one that I could purchase those items. Thank you.

Duct.

Ape Out.

Unfortunately those are not the ducts he's talking about. This shows the difference in the Explorer 4-door and the Sport/Sport Trac ducts. The position of the crash module on the transmission hump is the problem. I also have a tan Explorer console that won't work in a Trac.

I had a broken up console but I already sold the inner duct to another member. And let me say, it was a PITA to get out as it's heat-welded to the console itself. This is the inner duct that I finally got out.

Here's an exploded view of the console for reference purposes.

One of those great ideas that suddenly turn to "Oh crap" !!

I just don't think I'd do that. I'd rather just cut out the duct and have no rear air. Even with the duct trimmed to fit, the rear blower would function and pick up interior air.
